SPECIAL PACKAGES FOR RESORTS:
David offers a special package for resorts. The most popular is a Pre-March Special Package which is promoted at the start of each year, offering a range of incentives and savings for properties that commission an assignment for any time in the year as long as they book before March (details below). This package has proved popular, with resulting commissions seeing David largely booked by March 1 for the remainder of the year.
While his standard resort commission is 5-7 days, David also offers options to suit the on-going needs of the properties he photographs. They may involve a discount rate to return and update the property's image library and the option of establishing a self-managed on-line photo library that can be linked to your property's web site.
BOOK NOW FOR SPECIAL PACKAGE  (Assignments being taken for 2012)
"At the beginning of each year, we offer a special rate to resort properties. It saves them money and, with bookings closing by the end of February, we can better organise and schedule our assignments for the year. This package is popular. Last year, our entire schedule was largely booked by the March 1 deadline. It represents - by far - the most cost-effective package we offer a resort anytime in the year."
- David Kirkland
Assignment bookings are being taken for 2012 and prospective clients are being offered a special Pre-March package in which David reduces his standard commercial fee by 20% to photograph a resort over a seven day period any time in 2011. Total Cost: AUD$7,000 plus associated expenses.
The following benefits are being offered in the package:
- Access to the services of one of the most widely published travel photographers in the Asia Pacific region.
- A 20% saving on David’s standard fees and charges for a seven day assignment.
- Two complimentary days for David to become familiar with your property prior to the assignment.
- The supply on Photo DVD of 30 of the best images captured during the assignment.
- Unrestricted usage of the photographs for promotional purposes.
- Reduced travel costs.
- Priority listing of your assignment in the year ahead, allowing you to plan for optimum photography conditions (ie fine weather, major cultural or tourist events).
- The option to exchange part of the payment for contra (depending on the frequency of David visiting the destination).
Discount options may also include:
- Selection of up to 100 additional images captured during the assignment and the creation of an on-line photo library, customised to your branding and linked to your web page which  media and travel agents can access to download your images instantly over the internet.

RESORT ASSIGNMENT PACKAGES

Throughout the year, David offers three main packages to photograph a resort or boutique property, each of which is tailored to meet the specific needs and resources of  the client.

This includes his standard  Seven Day Resort Package,  a Resort Package with Professional Lighting  and a special  Pre-March booking Introductory Resort Package.

David's standard seven day package involves him shooting your property according to a pre-determined Shot List over a seven day period.  The Resort Package with Professional Lighting varies depending on the size of the property and the scope of the job, however, it involves bringing in professional lighting and an assistant to deliver a comprehensive image library shot to the highest possible international standards. David's special  Pre-March Booking Introductory Resort Package provides attractive discounts on David's fees and services for a seven day assignment but is only offered at the beginning of each year. Only properties that are prepared to book an assignment prior to March 1 are eligible  for the concessions offered in this package (details above).

All of these packages have proved popular, with bookings required well in advance.

We suggest you discuss each of these options with David directly to determine which of these packages is most likely to suit your needs and David's availability.

From the outset, David will work with you - drawing from 10 years experience of providing a similar service to other properties - to help you refine your  Shot List and plan for the most efficient way to deliver an appealing range of images. As David says, "Producing truly exceptional images is 95% planning,  5% pressing the button." From our initial meeting, the best approach to the assignment will be mapped out and agreed to, ensuring we deliver according to your brief and within the budget allocated. At the completion of the assignment, the photographs captured will be matched to the Shot List and supplied, a License Agreement will be issued releasing the images to your tourism authority, and a conclusion report will be provided.

WHY CHOOSE DAVID TO PHOTOGRAPH YOUR PROPERTY?

For more than a decade, David has specialised in working with national tourism authorities and resorts to capture world-class promotional photographs of the destinations and properties. The fact that he continues to service tourism authorities and resorts throughout the region is testament to the quality of his work and his ability to deliver what he promises.

Some points to consider:

David specialises in Resort photography: David doesn't specialise in shooting radiating brides, the shanks of Arabian Stallions or politicians kissing babies. Resort photography at this level is a specialised arena and David has continued to excel in the field for more than a decade . His experience in the region counts for a lot when it comes to mastering outdoor light, what needs to be photographed  and understanding what appeals to the market in terms of imagery. As a travel photographer who makes his living providing world-class promotional photographs, David uses the very latest camera equipment, including large format and underwater cameras and professional lighting. His reputation as a professional travel photographer is built singularly around capturing high quality images of people enjoying themselves, set against backdrops which make a property distinctive and appealing.

He has a fair idea of your business and its likely needs: In another life, David was the CEO of several tourism authorities in Australia so, from a marketing perspective, he knows what sort of images you are likely to want and how you plan to use them. His assignment will be closely tailored to your needs and the objectives of your property's marketing strategy.

He knows the Asia Pacific region: Over the past 12 years, David has been commissioned by many hotel and resort properties in the Asia Pacific region. He knows the region well and he is familiar with the characteristics of a property that are likely to be appealing to an international market.

He offers value for money: David customises his assignments to suit your property and budget. He will work with  you to ensure you get the best value for money.

The Photographs are yours: In a world where professional photographers are applying all sorts of restrictions to their images, we completely release the images to you. At the conclusion of an assignment, we supply the images and a simple License Agreement which releases the images to you for all promotional purposes including supply to media and travel agents and use in all promotional collateral (we could hardly have expected to maintain our relationships with other properties this long if we didn't).

He's productive: From early in the morning to late at night, David will be working to ensure your assignment is productive. Like you, he  wants to capture exceptional photographs of your property - outstanding images that will define your resort or hotel for many years to come.

We'll promote your property for you: David owns an On-Line Photo Library which features the best of the images he captures on assignment. His work is also represented internationally by Getty's Images. Travel magazine editors, travel agents, tour operators, book publishers and creative agencies are increasingly accessing David's images.

We produce souvenir publications: Assuming there is a market for souvenir publications on the destination in which you are located, David's publishing company - Frontier Publications -  is likely to develop a range of souvenir publications at its own expense and (with your permission) include photographs he has captured of your property. Arrangements can also be made to produce a customised edition of his publications, featuring your property.  (To view some of David's souvenir publications click here (http://www.kirklandphotos.com/frontier-publications).

He'll give you advice on all things photography: David understands the need for a resort to manage its own image library and circulate its photographs widely so, having captured the images, he will help you establish and manage your own image library, guiding you through the best way to store, protect, improve and circulate your images.

And, importantly, he'll do what he says he'll do: David prides himself on his professionalism. What he promises, will be delivered on time, within budget and to the highest possible standards. And he'll look to excel and produce exceptional images; every assignment is a new opportunity to produce better photographs than the ones he has captured before.

Resort Assignment Overview

As the sample images in the Resort Portfolio demonstrates, David's forte`is photographing a resort to give it "personality and personal appeal." How many properties do you see that promote themselves with "empty" pictures that don't have people in them (let alone people - guests and staff - enjoying themselves)? People relate to people like themselves relaxing and having a good time; everyone connects to a picture with a big smile, maybe lots of laughter or just sitting back in a setting of luxury that evokes the thought: What I wouldn't give to be right there now. These have become the signature elements of David's photography.

Of course, David expects to capture all aspects of the resort he is commissioned to photograph - he will shoot the property in its best light, capture the mood and food of its restaurants or the fun of its activities, meticulously set up and light a room to make it inviting or hang out of a helicopter to get that shot that puts your property in context of its surroundings etc. But what he also expects to do while he's there is work with you to capture that one "Hero Shot" that will define your property and become the flagship image to promote it.

If these are the sort of pictures you're interested in having to promote your property, and you like what you see by clicking on the photo above and viewing samples from our resort portfolio, contact David directly on 0417993792 or by e-mail on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. David standard rate is AUD$1,500 a day, plus expenses (the minimum length of a resort assignment is seven days; the average cost is AUD$10,000).

He also offers a Special Pre-March Package for resorts that book between January and March for anytime in that year which are posted on this site in December (Refer Pre-March Speci
