Resort Properties

RESORT ASSIGNMENT OVERVIEW

David specialises in photographing resort properties - capturing outstanding images that define a property in a highly competitive marketplace. As the sample images in the Resort Portfolio (click here to view) demonstrates, David's forte` is photographing a resort to give it "personality and personal appeal."  How many properties do you see that promote themselves with "empty" pictures that don't have people in them (let alone people - guests and staff - enjoying themselves)? People relate to people like themselves relaxing and having a good time; everyone connects to a picture with a big smile, maybe lots of laughter or just sitting back in a setting of luxury that evokes the thought: What I wouldn't give to be right there now. These have become the signature elements of David's photography.

Of course, David expects to capture all aspects of the resort he is commissioned to photograph - he will shoot the property in its best light, capture the mood and food of its restaurants or the fun of its activities, meticulously set up and light a room to make it inviting or hang out of a helicopter to get that shot that puts your property in context of its surroundings etc. But what he also expects to do while he's there is work with you to capture that one "Hero Shot" that will define your property and become the flagship image to promote it.

If these are the sort of pictures you're interested in having in your library, why not contact David directly on 0417993792 or contact him by e-mail on david@kirklandphotos.com.

David standard rate is AUD$1,500 a day, plus expenses (the average cost of a resort assignment is AUD$10,000). He also offers a Special Pre-March Package for resorts that book between January and March for anytime in that year. Details (below) are posted on this site in December.

HOW WE WORK

David undertakes commission work for resorts, airlines, major tourism operators and tourism authorities. His standard commercial rate is AUD$1,500 a day, plus expenses – the details of which are provided on request.

Should you commission an assignment between January 30 and March 1 in any year, a special resort rate more than halving David's professional fee will apply (Details to be circulated to David's Mailing List in January each year).

The process to commission a photographic assignment begins by making contact with David by e-mail or phone and outlining what it is you are looking to have photographed.  David will guide you on whether he is best suited to your task and offer several options and a recommendation for how your project may best be progressed.

At this point, David's fees and charges will be clearly outlined and his availability will be determined.

Should you wish to progress the relationship, a Shot List identifying the subjects you want photographed will need to be drawn up. This list will only be a basis for the assignment and may well be expanded in consultation with the client as the assignment progresses.

Based on our discussions or correspondence, David will supply a draft of the Shot List which the client will be invited to add to. This will allow for the length of the assignment to be determined. During this process, potential "Hero Shots" will be identified and subjects on the Shot List will be prioritised.

A written proposal clearly stating what you will receive and exactly how much it will cost will be provided, along with a copy of the Shot List and a draft of the License Agreement which will release copyright of the images to you.

At this point, assuming a date has been determined, the assignment will be penciled in to David's schedule.

Should you wish to proceed, a AUD$1,000 deposit will be required to secure the assignment.

On receipt of these funds, the assignment will be confirmed.

When the assignment is completed, the photographs captured will be processed and matched to the Shot List, the images will be professionally drum scanned and supplied on Photo CD and a signed License Agreement will be forwarded to you along with an invoice for the balance of payment.

David prides himself on his professionalism and he would expect any relationship he enters into to be a lasting and enjoyable one, based on honesty, trust and mutual benefit. You can be assured he will do what he says he will do - on time, within budget and to the highest possible standards.

If you are interested in commissioning an assignment, please contact us on the details posted at the top of this page.

"My objective when I photograph a resort is to capture an image which makes it distinctive in a highly competitive marketplace. While I will shoot widely, I'm after a "Hero Shot" of international standing - one that will define it and make the property particularly appealing to the market it's looking to attract."
